Shannon Amidon: Seed Library Project
On sunny, Sunday September 16, 2018, Shannon Amidon brought materials to create a Flower
Seed Library and a Vegetable Seed Library. Each participant was given a personal pot to paint and were
given soil and the seeds of their choice. They could also take additional seeds home to plant. The
community will have access moving forward to the libraries which will be permanently in the Project
Access room.
When I first approached Orchard Glen Apartments, I noticed the many patios and access to
outdoor personal space. Some people had small potted gardens while other’s were colorless and bare.
Having access to a wide range of seeds and extra pots will allow community members to continuously
rotate their personal gardens. Shannon also included instructions in each Seed Library and some practical
information about seasonal plants in this area.
