Ambient Dew Point is the temperature needed for condensation of atmospheric water vapor to occur; the changing of state and phase. Passage from form to form through reflections and refractions of scale, felt as one sensation to the next in a process. The truism states, Water is life. It is always many things at once, performing. Water is “not a personality but more like a culture to itself, with laws, arts, and a unique history and geography,” science writer Philip Ball states.
Process and cooperation, from moment to moment, especially with great friction define communities. It is evident that one, and ones community, are part of a small body of water. There are many myriad kinds of water, known and unknown, saturated, imbued, reflecting upon itself, articulated as analogues, correspondences and mirrors.
The tradition of experimental media is preoccupied with the perceptual, conceptual and interpretive in which environments of poetry and science are not contradictory, but essential. Performances are ephemeral displays of the effects of inquiry and ways of knowing. Much work is made for performances that is often not seen. This exhibition includes a number of primarily media performance artists and groups showing works that are an extract of some process or outgrowth of their time based performance work.
