MindScape: Curated by Al Preciado
Opening Reception: Friday May 4th, 6pm - 9pm
Open Hours: Saturday 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th, 12pm - 6pm

Mind as variable landscape is the theme of this exhibition. Through the exploration of various styles and words, the artists navigate the terrain of their minds to produce the fruits of their vision. What is the cause of the matter of the art-making? As artist Sergio Montezuma said, “[i]t is not for the artist to be original but to mine the origins of their own soul and being.” This fuels the artists’ will to create. The artist is always looking for inspirational fodder: political, personal, emotive, psychological, environmental, societal.

We find meaning in our work when we add substance and meaning that connects to our thoughts no matter how realistic or how abstract. While relationships sometimes fuel creativity, many artists believe that solitary time in the studio, or wherever one creates, is where artistic creativity blooms. In the studio, we are in the zone. We are in synergy. We are in harmony. What unites these diverse artists are the authentic and honest realization of their creative minds
