Judy Roberto: Puppet Workshop
On October, 28, 2018, on a sunny afternoon, Judy Roberto led a wonderful Puppet Workshop
with the community of Casa Real Apartments. Kids came out and learned the art of puppet making and
were able to design their own puppets with fabric, paper, wood and other items. Their creativity was
incredible. After the puppets were made, Judy taught the art of puppeteering, how to move your puppet
realistically by skipping and running and how to express emotion through a puppet by being shy or
excited. She also taught the dynamic of how to move behind stage with other puppeteers. Each child
performed a sketch in the puppet theater with their puppets and had a chance to make their puppets
dance to some fun festive music. Each kid went home with a puppet packet so they could make another
puppet at home and a pack of Astro Brights construction paper.
